Benchmark Health Partners began with a simple belief. Every young athlete deserves the chance to stay in sport for as long as they choose.
As sports medicine clinicians, public health experts, data scientists, parents, and coaches, we watched too many athletes leave sport earlier than they wanted. Injuries. Stress. Burnout. Missed warning signs that no one saw clearly until it was too late.
At BHP, we believe the most important measure of an athlete is how long they can stay healthy and involved in sport. We call this durability. Our work centers on giving families and organizations clear tools to understand athlete health, spot early threats, and support better decisions over time.
Youth sports are growing. The health benefits are clear. Yet many young athletes step away from sport in their early teens. The reasons are rarely simple.
Durability often breaks down long before a season ends. Growth spurts, heavy schedules, poor sleep, limited recovery, and high expectations all shape how a young athlete feels. When these factors stack up, motivation fades, confidence drops, and injuries become more likely. Families and coaches often see the results, not the early signs.
Traditional approaches focus on single injuries or one risk factor at a time. Very few tools offer a full picture of the forces that shape athlete durability. We saw the need for a clearer way to see early signals before small problems grow.
The Athlete Durability Index is our answer to this problem. ADI is a youth athlete health tool that identifies the factors that shape durability before they turn into bigger issues.
ADI looks at ten durability factors. History. Growth. Structure. Mechanics. Balance. Reaction. Mindset. Fuel. Recovery. Load. After a short guided Lab session, athletes receive an Athlete Durability Index that shows each factor as a Strength or a Focus. Strength means no current durability threat was identified. Focus means at least one concern is present and deserves attention.
Our goal is simple. Give athletes, families, coaches, and organizations clear information they can trust. Turn complex science into practical guidance. Support decisions that help young athletes stay healthy, feel supported, and remain involved in the sports they love for longer.
